Mascara Monday: Lash Sculpture Long Separate Mascara

I have another Japanese mascara today! Woo hoo!
This is the Lash Sculpture Long Separate Mascara.
I purchased it in Shanghai, but you can get them from online stores and local Japanese supermarkets like Uwajimaya.

This mascara has been recommended by many Asian bloggers and Youtubers in that it has a unique comb like brush that separates and lengthens the lashes without clumping. Plus it stays all day without smudging, and yet it could be removed by warm water.

As you can see from the picture, the brush is flat instead of round. It has rubber bristles which form a curves shape to fit the shape of the eyes.

Ratings:
  • Formula & Application: 8/10
Formula is pretty wet and it dries down pretty slowly, so 1 point off for that. Application is actually quite easy. The brush is small and flat, which prevents the mascara to get on my eyelids. However, the brush does carry a bit too much product, which can actually clump up my lashes. Hence, 1 point off for the application as well.

  • Lengthening: 9/10
Lengthens my lashes pretty well.  Does not give extreme effect though.

  • Volumizing: 7/10
Because the formula is wet and thick, it volumizes my lashes a little bit as well. However, the effect is still on the lengthening side. Lashes does not look big and voluminous, just more defined.

  •  Holds Curl: 5/10
This mascara does NOT hold curl. At least it does not do the job for my monolids. I have still giving it 5 points because at least it keeps my lashes horizontal to the ground instead of making them drooping straight down.

  • Staying Power: 10/10
What impressed me the most about this mascara is that it NEVER flakes or smudges on me. It is very rare to find a tube of mascara that does not smudge on my oily AND hooded eyelids(which is like the harshest condition ever for makeup to stay lol) . I have worn it when playing tennis in a hot hot summer afternoon, outside under the sun, and I sweated like crazy. I thought I would end up like a raccoon, but after I go back home and look at myself in the mirror, and find that the mascara held up extremely well. Not even a single flake and absolutely no smudging happened!

This mascara is formlated to stand sweat and oiliness, but it can be removed with just warm water. I would say as long as you are not in water, your lashes should be totally fine.

So I am absolutely certain that this mascara would stay put all day.

  • Easiness to remove: 10/10
Despite its crazy staying power, Lash Sculpture Mascara is very easy to remove. It is formulated to stand oiliness and sweat, but some how, it comes right off with warm water. I just wash my face with warm water and rub my lashes, and the mascara would turn into little flakes and fall right off. No makeup remover is ever needed.

A lot of Japanese mascaras are formulated to be like this. For example, Dejavu fiberwig and DUP perfect long extensions. And I find that this kind of mascara tend to stay smudge-free on me.

Overall: 8/10
Lash Sculpture Long Separate Mascara has amazing staying power and is super easy to remove. It lengthens and thickens the lashes and make them look naturally long.

However, it does not hold curls on my monolids, and it tend to clump up due to the wet formula. When the tube got older, the formula dries out a little, and at that time it will perform better in my opinion, since less clumping will happen.

Yes for people who have naturally curly lashes and look for natural look.
No for people with droopy lashes and look for big voluminous curling effects.

Before & After:
This is after two coats on top and one coat on bottom lashes.
My eyes(well technically my left eye) look more defined. But lashes never got curlier...

Please follow me on Google if you like my review. I will be doing a review for a mascara on every Monday. Make sure you check them out. ^_^
