Mascara Monday: Maybelline the Falsies Volum Express Non-waterproof

Hello my dear readers.
It is getting really cold and chrismasy here in Seattle lol.
How's everyone holding up in the cold weather??

So first I want to say something about how I review my mascaras.
I NEED YOUR ADVICE!
If you read all my Mascara Monday posts you would know that I recently started to give grades to the mascaras, but I feel like it is not the best way to review them because every mascara has both shortages and advantages.
It might not seem fair to give less points to a great waterproof mascara just because it is very hard to take off.
What do you guys think???
Should I just go back to listing the pros and cons???
Please let me know in the comments.

Now onto the mascara.
I know that it is somewhat cheating to review the non waterproof version of Maybelline the Falsies since I already did the waterproof one.
But I feel like these two versions are actually quite different, and I really loooove the non waterproof version as well.
In fact I love it so much that I think it deserves a separate review.

Just like the waterproof version, it has a slightly curved wand.

Review: YSL Rouge Volupté Silk Lipstick 使用报告:YSL迷魅唇膏

So I went to Costco the other day,
And found four shades of YSL Volupté Silk Lipstick on display there, and it was $26.99 each, which is $7 cheaper than retail stores!
I grabbed the two more natural shades in #3 ultimate beige and #13 peach passion.
大家好啊。话说有天我去costco发现那里居然有卖ysl的唇膏,虽然只有四个颜色但是只要26.99刀一支,比专柜便宜了7刀。所以我就收了两支颜色比较自然滴。是#3和#13。

Top 5 Drugstore Eyeshadows 最爱开价眼影

Hi all, I am sharing my favorite drugstore eyeshadows with you today.
大家好啊,今天来和大家分享我最爱的开价眼影。

As you all know, I am a sucker for natural colors. So the eyeshadows I am recommending here are mostly neutral colors that are perfect for everyday wear. And I recommended 4 palettes and 1 single eyeshadow from drugstore just because I think palettes have higher values.
我比较喜欢收集自然系的眼影,所以这里和大家分享的都是很适合每天使用的彩妆哦。我介绍了4个眼影盘和一个单个的眼影,因为觉得眼影盘性价比比较高哈哈。

Collective Haul+Mini Reviews: Drugstore.com & Flower Beauty by Drew Berrymore at Walmart 近期开价彩妆晒货

So I went a little crazy these days with all the coupons and discounts I have.
I did another haul of drugstore products.
I do feel a little guilty to spend more money but I am happy to say that everything I got this time is so pretty and worthwhile, thanks to the research I did beforehand lol.
最近总能看到好多打折啊优惠的,所以有点买疯了呵呵。不过我觉得这次买的东西都很值得~

First let's talk about drugstore.com,
I got some reward points there (you get 5% reward money and you can spend it on your later purchases), so I went ahead and did a little shopping.
先说说drugstore.com,
我因为在那个网上有积分(每次买的5%都会作为积分,可以在以后的购买中抵用哦),所以就挥霍了一下吼吼。

Mascara Monday: Fairy Drops Macara Volume and Curl Burst Waterproof Mascara

Hello my makeuplovers!
I was watching youtube the other day and I saw many youtubers doing the Mascara Monday videos, and I think this is a great idea.
So from now on, I will be posting a review about a mascara on every Monday.
And I would focus on how it improves my short and spare Asian lashes that are hidden under my monolids.

The first one I want to talk about is this waterproof mascara with a very cute purple tube from Fairy Drops, and it claims to add volume and hold curl.
I talked about it in my previous post called "Best Mascara for Monolids". If you would like to check that out too, I will link it right here. http://mushroomslittleworld.blogspot.com/2013/06/best-mascaras-for-monoliders.html

Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette vs TheBalm Nude 'Tude Palette

Hello there!
As we all know, Urban Decay Naked Palette has been raved ever sinced it was launched.
I would say that it is totally worth the hype because I literally used every single color in this palette to create natural everyday looks, and that happens very rarely.

However, Naked 1 has its enemy now, and it is the Nude 'Tude palette from TheBalm.
I did a full review with swatches about this palette and here is the link, if you feel like checking it out.
http://mushroomslittleworld.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-balm-nude-tude-palette-review-and.html

In this blog post I will compare these two palette from its price, texture to shades.

 Urban Decay Naked 1
 TheBalm Nude 'Tude
 Winner
  Price
 Retails for $50
Retails for $36 and is constantly on sale at hautelook.com for about $20
 TheBalm
 Product it contains
With 12 full size eyeshadows, a brush and a bottle of primer potion (0.13 fl oz)
With 12 eyeshadows that are significantly less than Naked 1
 Naked 1
 Shade variety
2 matte and 10 shimmery to satin finish colors
4 matte and 9 shimmery colors
 Nude ‘Tude
 Texture/Pigmentation
Creamy(sidecar has a lot of fallout), very pigmented
Creamy(sexy can be a bit chalky if used too much), very pigmented
 Tie
Usefulness in everyday life
I can create a natural look using ONLY this palette
Lacking a color that I can use to highlight my brow bone
Naked 1
Flatteriness on different skintones
Works for skintones from light to medium dark, but looks the most flattery on skin with yellow undertone since its base color is purple
Works for skintones from light to medium dark, but looks more flattery on skin with pink undertone, especially for colors like selfish (cool taupe) and snobby (bright gold)
For me it is Naked 1
 Lasting Power
Lasts all day with primer potion
Lasts all day with a primer
 Tie
 Packaging
Velvet case which attracts dirt, small mirror, but very compact arrange of eyeshadows
Cardboard case, fun pattern, bigger mirror, less compact arrange of eyeshadows

Sephora Haul/ DEAL ALERT: Great value set from Fresh

So I did another quite a lot of hauls lately...
And I'm gonna share them with you guys!

Let's talk about high end first,
So I went to Sephora the other day to buy the Soy Face Cleanser from Fresh because ever since I tried the little sample one that was given free at sephora, I could never forget about it!!! The texture is so much creamier than my Philosophy Purity, and it removes non-waterproof mascara and face makeup very thoroughly, and the best part is my face feel so soft this wash my face.
And the shop assistant there saw me checking out the Fresh products and asked me if I would like to check out their holiday sets.
Of course I said yes, and then she pull this little baby out from the back quite secretly...and I was blown away by this great deal.

The set sells for $65 ($123 value) and a generous amount of their best selling products.

Korean Beauty Haul and Mini Reviews( Part 2 Makeup) 韩国归来美妆晒货(化妆品篇)

Hello everyone!
Today I'm going to continue sharing my haul in Korea.
This post is only about the makeup products I got in Korea, I have a separate post about skincare haul. If you would like to check that out. I will link it right here.
http://mushroomslittleworld.blogspot.com/2013/09/massive-korean-beauty-haul-part-1.html
大家好,今天我继续和大家分享我在韩国扫的化妆品。
我前一篇博客是关于我在韩国买的护肤品滴,如果你也想看那篇呢我就请点这个链接~
http://mushroomslittleworld.blogspot.com/2013/09/massive-korean-beauty-haul-part-1.html

Okay onto the topic,
好的言归正传,

The first thing I got is the "famous" CC cream, CC stands for color correcting or color control. It tends to have lighter coverage than BB cream and it claims to have more skin benefits. The one I got is from Etude House in No2 silky. They have no1 glowing and no2 silky, there is honestly no big difference because CC cream is usually white and it adapts into your skintone when you rub it into your skin. I was told at the counter that silky works better for combination to oily skin and glowing works for normal to dry skin. One tube contains 35g of product and it have SPF30.

Korean Beauty Haul and Mini Reviews(Part 1 skincare): 韩国归来美妆晒货(护肤篇)

Hi all~
So I went to Seoul in August with my aunt. We stayed there for 4 days and during that time. Funny thing is we don't speak Korean at all and it is kinda hard to find someone who speaks English in Seoul...Good thing is we survived and had loads of fun there! I will write a blog about where to eat and where to shop in Seoul if you guys wanna know. Okay, so I went a little crazy and purchased quite a lot of makeup and skincare products. After trying them out for more than one month now, I am happy to provide you the haul as well as my quick review on every product. =]

Review: Caudalie Beauty Elixir 使用报告:欧缇丽(大葡萄)皇后水

Hi all, today I want to share my opinion on a product that is so raved about on the internet and it is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir.
大家好,今天我想和大家分享我对欧缇丽(昵称大葡萄)的皇后水的使用体验。这瓶水现在卖的好火。。。

I got it on beauty.com when they are having a promotion which is like if I spend over $30 I would get a free bottle of this Elixir. Beauty.com has offers like this all the time as long as you sign up on that website, so I highly recommende you check that website out.

Review: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze

Hey guys.
I hope you have a great summer so far.
 So as promised,
I am going to share my thoughts on the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick today.

I was hesitate if I wanna buy it because I'm so confused about how to use it.
Is it an eyeshadow palette? A contour? A shimmery bronzer? Or a highlight?
So I went to the Bobbi Brown counter that day and ask the makeup artist there to use the shimmer brick on me.
And the results are beautiful.
She dusted it on my cheeks and cheek bones and bridge of my nose.
At first I can't see the effect under the indoor light, but the makeup artist told me it does not show up very well under fluorescent light.
After I walk out my face just lid up under the sun.
So I went back in and bought it LOL.

The product contains 0.4 oz and retails for $42.
It is expensive but the pigments are so intensive that you really just need a tiny little bit of it to create a bronzy glowing look.
It has five stripes of colors and you can use them separtately as eyeshadows and you can combine any stripes and use it on your face to achieve a look (duh..).

Swatches and Application Ideas:
From left to right corresponds the stripes from top to bottom.
  • The top shade is a white-ish frosty pale gold, great to use as eyeshadow individually for highlighting inner cornor.
  • Second shade is a champagne color with a little pink undertone. I like to mix it with the first shade to highlight my eyes' inner corners and also swipe it on my cheekbone and the bridge of my nose as highlight.
  • Third shade is a golden bronze. This is the color that brings the bronze tone to your face if you mix all five shades and dust it on your face. Of course it can be used as eyeshadow to create a bronzy summery look.
  • Fourth shade is a peachy pink-ish color. I normally mix it with all four colors bacause I think using it as eyeshadow would make my monolids puffy. This is the color that brings a peach tone to your face and explains why the shimmer brick could be used as a blush.
  • The fifth shade is obviously the darkest shade. It is a bronzy brown. I have been using it as an eyeshadow ever since I got it. I just put it thickly close to lash line and blend it upward and I would stop below my crease. I then highlight inner corners with a mix of the first two srtipes. Add a little eyeliner and mascara and I'm good to go. It is a very fresh and simple summer look.
On top is the mix of all five shades. Mixed together creates a peachy bronzy shimmery color.
In summer it can be used solely as a blush.
In winter I would suggest you use a blush first and layer the shimmer brick onto your cheeks. It'll bring a glow to the whole face.
At bottom is the mix of the first two shades. It is just a pretty highlight with a little bit gold and champagne undertone.

Don't be afraid of using it. You just need to be careful with it.
One or two load of brush is good for the face.
I use a mix of all shades on my cheeks first and then swipe whatever left on the brush on my forehead and maybe contour a little.
Then I take the mix of first two and put it on my nose bridge and sometimes on cheekbons if I'm feeling my face is very dull that day.

Texture and Staying Power:
The texture is soft and the color is very intense.
So make suer you use very little at first and build it up gradually.
Staying power is ectremely excellent since the power is so finely milled.
When used as eyeshadow, it lasts all day without a primer.
At the end of day, my face and eyes still look super fresh.

Conclusion:
The shimmer brick is truely a classic makeup product because its quality, staying power and versatility.
If you are travelling for 3-4 days, I think this one palette is good for all your face and eye makeup.
The shade in Bronze complements yellow skintone very well since it has a gold undertone.
If you like a little shimmer on your face, I suggest you try it out.
It is a splurge but I'm sure it will last forever.
However, since it is very pigmented and shimmery.
I strongly suggest you use very little product for first application.
Trust me, a dab into the shimmer brick and a swipe onto your face will make a difference under natural light.

Deal Alert: free Caudalie Beauty Elixer with $30 Purchase on Beauty.com

Hello my friends,
hope you are having a great summer so far.

Today Beauty.com is giving a bottle of Caudalie Beauty Elixier($18 value) for free with purchase over $30 on that site.
It seems like a good deal to me.

But sadly,
seems like the deal is sent in email form to me and it only works for one purchase. Since I already redeemed it, I cannot reenter the deal and share it with you.
So sorry for that..
But if you subscribed for deals from Beauty.com, you should get it too.

But on the bright side, they are also having a deal which gives a deluxe sample sized Urban Decay primer potion for free with over $18 purchase on Urban Decay products.
I have been eyeing their 24/7 eyeliner in Sebbath for a really lone time,
it is a dark navy eyeliner.
My eyes are usually quite red due to lack of sleep and sensitivity. Blue is supposed to counteract the redness in my eyes and make me look more awake.
HollyAnnAeree raved about this particular liner on her youtube channel and I went ahead to Sephora and swatched it right after I watched her video.
It is very creamy and dark.
Leaves a slightly shiny finish.
I think it would be so pretty in summer when you don't want to use colors that are too deep and dark.
But I wasn't sure if I need another eyeliner pencil since I have so many.
And now on Beauty.com they are giving me a free primer potion,
hell yeah for that!

For this deal, you can find it on the home page on Beauty.com,
all you have to do is to click the redeem button.

And they are also having 20% on all products from the Body Shop on that website.

BTW, I failed to resist the temptation and bought the shimmer brick in Bronze from Bobbi Brown when I was in Oregon. So far I love it, and I'm planing to review it very soon.
So stay tuned for that.

Finally,
I wish you all have a lovely day. =]

Best Mascaras For Monolids

Hello my friends!
I am showing you my favorite mascaras today.
So I have monolids and I have asian lashes that are short and points straight down.
And it's even worse when my thick eyelids cover part of my lashes and makes them look even shorter and droopier.
When it comes to mascara, I tend to be very picky.

First of all, I like my mascara to be lengthening because my lashes are quite voluminous, so I would love to make them longer.

Secondly, I should not smudge on me. Mascaras are very easy to smudge on me, even waterproof ones because A I have oliy lids and my eyes are watery, B my eyelids pushes my lashes down and make them touch my lower lash line every time I blink.

Thirdly, it has to be able to keep my lashes curled. Like I mentioned before, my eyelids somewhat pushes my lashes down, so a mascara that holds curl would help a lot and make my eyes look wide open.

And lastly, I would love it a lot better if it is easy to remove. Now, I do know that waterproof mascaras tend to keep the curl the best, but I just find it so hard to remove. I like to use a water-based eye makeup remover like Bioderma or Camomoile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover from the Body Shop just because they are a lot more gentle for my sensitive eyes. Plus I hate it when I use an oil makeup remover and when I open my eyes they got all blurry.

With that being said, it is extremely hard for me to find a good mascara. However, I did find several good ones to share with you.

Top 1: Dejavu fiberwig mascara in extra long (Sadly I ran out so I cannot show you my own tube here)
1)Lengthening and volumzing. Can be built up from natural lashes to full lashes.
2)Don't smudge at all. May flake a little bit after 10 hours of wearing.
3)Holds a pretty good curl. So like skyhigh curl, but as you can see the curved wand really helps.
4)Super easy to remove. Warm water alone can remove all the mascara away.

This can be purchased at Amazon and other online asian cosmetics store like sasa.com

Top 2: Combination of Kate macara base plus volume glamour mascara ultra-volumateur from bourjois
I bought them in Shanghai and I am sorry that they are hard to get here in US, but honestly they work the best for me so I want to show them to you. Also, this is kind of cheating because there are two products, but again, I find them work the best together. And I will list some alternatives that are easier to get in US.
Kate is a Japanese makeup brand. I think it is ran by the same company who produces Shiseido, so this Kate line is a more affordable Japanese drugstore version of Shiseido products.

This works as a primer. It has white fibers on the brush, and you brush it onto curled lashes before mascara. It lengthens my lashed and make them really really curled.
Bourjois is a French drugstore makeup brand that are widely available in Europe. They have amazing foundations, baked blushes (often compared as a dupe for Chanel blushes) and mascaras. This mascara works good on its own. It is so smooth to apply and lengthens and volumizes, but it does not hold curls.

1)But when I apply this mascara onto my primed eyelashes, it enhanced my lashed sooooo much. My lashed look so long and full.

2)Smudges a tiny little bit after 8 hours. With covergirl's nature luxe mousse mascara it can hold up to 10 hours.

3) I lashed look so curled!!! My friend who's got naturally long and curled lashes use this mascara base too, she said with this mascara base, she doesn't even need false eyelashes anymore.

4) It is a bit harder to remove. But a water based makeup remover and use a facial cleanser afterwards should do the trick.

I highly recommend you try using a primer and then layer a smooth mascara on top, because you already have fibers in the base, another fiber mascara would make your lashes too stiff. However, the primer should be able to keep your lashed curled.

Dior's lash plumping serum and Shiseido's nourishing mascara base are the two best alternatives. And I would also use Covergirls's nature luxe mascara and also Benefit's they are real mascara as alternatives. All of these could be purchased at Sephora except covergirl.

Top 3: Fairy Drops Volume Burst Mascara in waterproof version
The tube is in purple and it's got some cute drawings on it. The packaging is just so cute. =P
Fairy Drops is famous for its curvy wand, and it grabs my every lashes and curled them very nicely. It looks wierd but it actually applies like a normal mascara wand.

1) Lengthening: did a pretty good job in making my lashed look long and volumized.
2) Smudges a little bit after 7 hours, but could be wiped away easily.
3) Curls up my lashed like crazy!!! It gives a straight sky high curl if I apply it after I curled my lashes.
4) Of all my favorite mascaras, I spend the most efforts in taking this one off. But it's not too harsh compared to maybelline waterproof mascaras. I press my Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover from the Body Shop against my eyelids for a few seconds and wipe them off. Most of them will come off, and after repeating the same motion two times, it's pretty much all gone.

There's also a little trick to take off waterproof mascara easier that works for me. I first apply a thin layer non waterproof mascara and then go on with the waterproof one, in that way the waterproof one doesn't cling onto my lashes. Hence it is easier to get off.

I did a in depth review for this one as well. Click here .

This mascara can be purchased on Amazon and sasa.com.

Top 4: Clinique's Bottum Lash Mascara
I use this only for bottum lashes.
It's got a tiny wand and it works so well on me because my eyes are quite small and also..my bottum lashed are short..So this one really grabs every baby lashes and lengthens them. Plus they are super easy to work with.

1) Lengthens very well. I don't use any other mascaras on my bottum lashes any more.
2)Does not smudge or flake AT ALL.
3) I guess it does not matter if my bottum lashes are curled or not lol
4) Super easy to come off. Warm water and a little cleanser will get rid of it. If you rub you lower lash line when you're washing your face, it'll be gone like that quick.

You can buy this mascara at Sephora.

Now a few tips for monoliders when we are putting mascara on:

  • I think it is important for monoliders should use bottum mascara. Because our eyelids are so heavy that when we blink, the product we put on our upper lash line may touch our bottum lash line a lot. After a few hours the eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara will just transfer to bottum lash line and that is why we see smudging. If I wear mascara on bottum lashes, I find that it works almost like a barriers.  My makeup on upper eyelids will not touch my lower eyelids directly now(lower eyelid..sounds weird.. but you know what I'm talking about right? =P). So the smudging problem got a lot more improved this way.

  • Also, it is very important to really curl your lashes if you have monolids like me. Because  if we curl the lashes very well, it will make our eyes seem wide open and the mascaras we use are less likely to smudge.

Wow this is a long blog post..Anyways I hope you enjoy. =]
Oh and also remember, when it comes to beauty, be experimental and be confident!

Review/Rave: Buxom Big and Healthy Lip Cream

Hi guys.
Can you believe it's Thurseday already?
Weekend is coming soon!!

I'm doing a review about my absolute love: Buxom Big and Healthy Lip Cream
I got the shade in White Russian, and I really really love the way it looks on me and the way it feels.
The tube contains 0.14 onze of product and retails at $19 in Sephora. It looks like a large tube, but actually it has less product than drugstore lipglosses like revlon superlustrous lipgloss (0.2 onze).
The shade is called White Russian, which is a pinky nude in cream finish. The doefoot applicator carries the right amount od products and when I apply the lipgloss, it does not appear to be streaky.

Here's a swatch and how it looks on my lips.
As you can see it is quite opague, but not opague enough to completely cover my natural lip color and hence it doesn't make me look "dead".
So this is the perfect natural nude color for everyday.

The lipgloss absolutely fantastic.
It is just like the name implies: it has a cream finish, meaning there's no shimmer in it at all. It feels tingling on the lips, which someone may not like it, but I adore it.
To me it's more a cooling lipgloss.
Whenever I apply this, I feel so cool and chilled.
Staying power is standard.
I have to reapply it every 2 hours to keep the color vivid.
However, the tingling feeling lasts more than 2 hour on my lips without reapplying.
In other words, the color may fade before the tingling feeling goes away completely.
It just feels so good on the lips and very weirdly, I find it makes me feel better especially in hot weather.
I got so addicted to it that once I have it on, I have to make the tingling feeling continue.
Plus it feels very creamy and moisturizing, which is always nice.

This product also plumps up my lips a little bit, which is what Buxom is famous for.
However, for me, it is the nice bonus (the tingling feeling) it comes with that attracts me the most.

Bottom line is, I highly recommend you to try these out in your local sephora and see if you like the tingling feeling or not.
To me it is the holy grail. The feeling, the texture and the color are just all perfect.
They have several brighter shades in their line as well but I think this color looks the most flattering on me.
If you don't like tingling feeling, there is also a lipgloss that plumps up your lips without any weird feelings from Buxom which is called Full-bodied lip gloss, and you can also check them out in Sephora.

Review/Rave: Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12 Hour Lipstick

Hello everyone,
I am peeking up to write you another review today.
My finals are not over yet but I'm almost done!

Today I am raving about a lipstick I purchased last week,
and it is the Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12 Hour Lipstick in Bold.ph

I had my eyes on this because my friend Isabelle recommended it to me. She told me that the lipstick lasts a really long time.
So I went to sephora and swatched some colors.
And man I'm in love!!!
The color called bold looks really good on me.
It is on the pricier side ($26), so I wasn't sure if I really want it.
However, after trying it out in Sephora for two times and getting complemented every time I put it on, I decided to buy it.
The texture is so creamy when you first apply it on and the color is so saturated that it is actually more vivid than the color you see in the tube.
What's even better is that the lasting power is excellent! I only apply it after I eat and I good for the day.
AND I got so many complements when I wear it, so of course I LOVE it!

Now let's get on the product itself,
The lipstick contains 0.07 oz of product which is not a lot and it retails at $26.
The tube is made of bamboo and plastic, and you can see the color on the tube. The packaging doesn't feel very sturdy to me. The cap is not very easy to clasp on, you really have to push the cap. So far it holds up pretty well. However, for the price I paid, I wish the tube could feel sturdier.
So this is the lipstick in the color BOLD, it is a pretty redish coral. Not too pinky. It is pretty bright, but definitely not scarily bright. It is actually perfect for natural everyday look and I think it works particularly well in spring and summer. Plus it complements my medium skin with yellow undertone very well.
This is one light swatch of the color, as you can see it is true to the color in the tube, after two layer, it will be a lot more vivid than the color in the tube.
The texture is very smooth, it glides onto my lips when I first apply it. After half an hour it dries down, and I don't really have the lipstick feeling anymore. I would say it feels more like a stain after a few hours. The color would stay vivd until I have a meal. The color does sink into my creases a little, but it is definitely much better and less noticable than YSL volupte. It I feel it is too drying, I would put a lipbalm over it.

If you are like me, who has pretty dry lips and likes a creamy lipstick, but is still on the hunt for a long lasting lipstick, this might be the perfect one for you.
If you like corals but you think the coral in the market are either too bright or too chalky or pinkish, this might be the perfect one.

My Night Time Skin Care Routine (combination to oliy skin in early 20s)

Hi guys!
I'm starting my finals this week but I couldn't help to sneek up here and talk to you lol.
So I'm showing you my night time skin care routine really quickly.

I am in my early 20s and I have combination skin,
meaning my cheeks are prone to dryness while my t-zone is quite oily.
I don't have a lot of acnes, I normally only get one or two due to change in hormone( I don't think there's much I can do about it), but my face is quite sensitive, for example some chemical sunblocks and all kinds of heavy dust makes my skin red and irritated instantly, and I would get red itchy little bumps.
This routine has really calm down my face. Now I have a lot less irritation then before.
First of all, I remove my makeup using bioderma, and I have a full review of this in previous posts.

And then I wash my face with philosophy's purity, this is a very gentle cleanser with slight citricy and rosemary scent. I really really love it. It does foam up a little bit but it felt so creamy on my face. It washes away any makeup residues and it's so gentle that I use it on my eyes too. I think it is absolutely normal that my face feel dry after cleansing, but this one is definitely the less drying one of all the cleansers I tried.

I do have a clarisonic (forgot to take a picture of it =P) but I don't use it everyday because I think it could be a bit too abrasive. I usually use it 3 times a week and it really brightens up my skin.

After cleaning my face, I use Hada Labo's Gokujyun Lotion (the second bottle from left):a thick toner (almost like serum). You can purchase it on drugstore.com.
http://www.drugstore.com/hada-labo-gokujyun-lotion/qxp406852?catid=307920
I love it because it is so moisturizing and calming. My skin just drinks up all the toner and becomes so soft afterwawrds. And it is supposed to maximize the next products you use on your skin. Plus it's made in Japan! I alwasys believe that Japanese make excellent skin care for asian skin.

I have been using Michael Todd's Concentrated C Antidioxidant Moisturizing Serum because I've got a few sun spots after my trip to Miami during spring break. Vitamin C can brighten up skintone and boost moisture. I had a sample of truth serum vitamin C collagen booster from Ole Henriksen and don't really care for it. I think instead of moisturize my face, Old Henriksen's serum actually makes my skin dryier right after I apply it. So I bought the Michael Todd one since it is cheaper and also get many good reviews. Can't say it's fantastic, but it does moisturize and brighten up my skintone. My sun spot becomes lighter too. And it smells like orange.
Caution: Serums containing vitamin C are recommended to use at night only, because if you use it in daytime, the sun may work with vitamin C and actually makes your skin even darker.

For moisturizor, I use ultra face cream from Kiehl's religiously. See how big a jar I got here? haha. I have tried many face creams and lotions, both high end and drugstore and I like this one the best. It is so light weight but yet super moisturizing. My face feel so supple after using it. And it never break me out.

For my eyes, I started to use Hyaluronic Eye Cream from Mario Badescu recently. You can find it in ulta and sometimes nordstrom. This jar cost only $18 but works so well. It is very mosturizing and a tiny little bit goes a super long way. I found this because my favorite youtuber Miss Jen from Fromheadtotoe talked about this in one of her hits and misses and she mentioned this eye cream is perfect for combating dryness. The skin around my eyes have been so dry that I can see fine lines now. I bought a of eye creams but nothing really works. After using this eye cream, my skin got a lot softer, but the fine lines are still there. But I am happy now because I don't feel dry anymore.

The little purple wand at the bottom is eyeosonic from Michael Todd, it is a vibrating little thing that helps eye cream to absorb more quickly. It claims to deliver the eye cream into the skin deeply. You just press the little metal part onto your eye area and move in circular motions. I don't know if it works or not because I just got it a little while ago and I'm too lazy to use it every day. But people have been raving about how soft their skin feel after using this.

So this is it for today,
now I'm going back to my huge pile of assignments.
See you next time!

Review: Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection Eyeshadow Set in Petal Pusher

Hello there!
Haven't talk to you in a week now lol.
I want to review a drugstore product today, and it is the popular wet n wild eyeshadow set!
Wet n wild is a American drugstore brand.
But can you believe it? The first time I know about this brand is because my sister went to Hong Kong and bought some dirt cheap but super pigmented eyeshadow singles and did a makeup look on me.
Haha, anyways, onto the product,
These babies retail for $4.99 and as we all know..it's been raved by bloggers and youtubers for a really looong time...
For me, I think this palette, petal pusher, is not the perfect one. Unlike the wet n wild eyeshadow set in comfort zone, the quality of this palette is not 100% garanteed, meaning some shades are pigmented, but some are not pigmented at all.

Here is the packaging, standard wet n wild, simple plastic case, very vulnerable. So you might not want to carry them around in your purse..I actually bought a trio from wet n wild in a drugstore and right after I walked out of the store, I accidentally dropped it..and the shadows were completely cracked..so was my heart..=P

Now onto the shades, so basically you get two quads, as you can see there is a name on each shadow, giving you an idea how to use them. It actually has a more detailed instruction on how to create natural to dramatic look at the back. And generally the first row helps you create natural purple looks while the second row is more smoky. Of course you don't have to follow it strictly. It is a 4.99 palette, play with it!

First vertical line:
Browbone: looks like a iridescent frosty white color, but it is not pigmented at all. I can barely see the color after some serious digging into the eyeshadow.

Eyelid: a nice lilac, quite pigmented.

Crease: vivid satin purple, very pigmented, very pretty. I use this shade the most out of the whole palette. I normally use a brown eyeliner to line my lids very thickly and smudge them out a little bit, and then press this shade onto my eyelids, and I define my crease a little bit with a dark color like the crease color in the second row. I find this look very flattering on monolids.

Definer: a shimmery bright purple, not very pigmented. I wonder how can a color unpigmented like this be a definer.

Swatches: browbone and eyelid on top and crease and definer at the bottom. (from left to right)

Second vertical line:
Browbone: pretty frosty pink. Very pigmented. But it is too frosty to be a browbone color to me. You don't want something too shiny and attracts all the attentions on your browbone. Could be a cool color on my eyelids for heavier party looks.

Eyelid: marrom with light purple glitters. Very unique shade. Very pigmented.

Crease: deep plum (almost black) with bright purple glitters. It has been compared to Beauty marked by MAC. I have nevered owned a beauty marked so I cannot say. But they do seem very similar in pictures. My picture doesn't do it justice. Sorry about my horrible photography skills..You should see purple glitters when you swatch it by yourself. Nice crease color for dark smoky eyes. Or you can use it lightly to create everyday look like I did with thr bright purple on its left. This eyeshodow is extremely pigmented, a dab into the pan gives you enough color, so go light with it, and add it gradually. To prevent fallout, I recommande using a primer since there eyeshadows are quite soft, it is easier for them to form fallouts.

Definer: dark black with green glitters. Extremely pigmented. I don't use this shade very often because I generally don't like greens...But it is very pretty and dark. Could be perfect as a liner or a crease color for very strong smoky eyes.

Conclusion:
In this palette, two colors are not very pgmented and the rest six is really pretty. I have to say I am a little disapointed but hey, it's only 4.99, can't complain about the price right? Plus I find it hard to find the right purples in drugstore, most of times the purples I find in other drugstore brands are either not pigmented and true to color at all or too shimmery. However, I find some perfect purple shades in this palette. I especially love the crease color in the left line, it is not too cool or too warm. However, these shades are all shimmery or glittering, if you want a completely matte purple, you might want to find it somewhere else, I think revlon makes a quad that has a bright matte purple.
If you like natural colors and you would like to try more color shadows, purple is a good way to start, it is not too bright and obvious. You can never go wrong with using a little purple as a pop of color. Plus, it works particularly well with brown eyes. It made my brown eyes really pop and makes my look super soft and gentle.
SO I think this palette is worth purchasing if you want to try out purple shades and don't want to spend a lot of money.

OK that is it for my review.
If you have any questions and opinions about my review,
please feel free to leave a comment so we can talk about it.

Gotta head back and write my homework now.
