Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette vs TheBalm Nude 'Tude Palette

Hello there!
As we all know, Urban Decay Naked Palette has been raved ever sinced it was launched.
I would say that it is totally worth the hype because I literally used every single color in this palette to create natural everyday looks, and that happens very rarely.

However, Naked 1 has its enemy now, and it is the Nude 'Tude palette from TheBalm.
I did a full review with swatches about this palette and here is the link, if you feel like checking it out.

Lacking a color that I can use to highlight my brow bone
Naked 1
Flatteriness on different skintones
Works for skintones from light to medium dark, but looks the most flattery on skin with yellow undertone since its base color is purple
Works for skintones from light to medium dark, but looks more flattery on skin with pink undertone, especially for colors like selfish (cool taupe) and snobby (bright gold)
For me it is Naked 1

Lasts all day with primer potion
Lasts all day with a primer
 Tie
 Packaging
Velvet case which attracts dirt, small mirror, but very compact arrange of eyeshadows
Cardboard case, fun pattern, bigger mirror, less compact arrange of eyeshadows
 Nude ‘Tude

Now, we move on to comparing the shades,
Overall speaking, colors in Naked 1 are more metallic than Nude 'Tude.
  • Virgin vs Sassy: Virgin is not too frosty pinkish white that's perfect for highlighting the brow bone. Sassy is a very frosty white. However, if I mix Sassy and Stubborn, I find that the finish is quite similar to Virgin, but just a tad more frosty. (left: virgin, middle:sassy, right:mixture of sassy and sin)
  • Sin vs Stubborn: Both are light pink, stubborn looks a bit more pinkish while sin leans neutral. (left:sin right: stubborn)
  • Buck vs Sultry: Medium brown. Both are perfect for contouring the outer V area and filling in brows. Looks very similar. (left: buck, right: sultry)
  • Half Baked vs Snobby, Seductive: The three colors all belongs to gold. But half baked is a medium gold, while snobby is a light gold and seductive is deep gold. They looks completely different, even the mixture of snobby and seductive is not like half baked at all. But they are all beautiful gold shades. (from left to right: balf baked, snobby, seductive, mixture)

  • Smog vs Seductive: Smog is a metallic gloden bronze, and seductive a deep gold that appears to have a more satiny finish. (left: smog, right: seductive)
  • Sidecar, Toasted vs Selfish: Sidecar and toasted are all taupe, but sidecar has a lot of glitters and tons of fallout, while toasted is a darker warm taupe. Selfish in the Nude' Tude palette is more like a cool taupe. They don't have a lot of similarity but serves the same function.( from left to right: toasted, sidecar, selfish)

  • Darkhorse vs Sophisticated: Satin dark brown. Very similar. (left: darkhorse, right:sophisticated)
  • Creep vs Serious:Creep is a almost black color with shimmers, and seious is a matte black. Serious looks a lot more intense then creep. (left: creep, right: serious)
Conclusion: The two palettes all have very neutral wearable colors, with only 1 or 2 "colored" eyeshadows like hustle in Naked 1, which is a brown with purple undertone, and sexy in Nude 'Tude palette, which is a burgendy, but these more vivid shades are still good for everyday natural looks.

As seen from the chart, personally, I like Urban Decay's Naked 1 better becaue it suits my skintone very well. However, I do grab for Nude 'Tude sometimes when I tired of using Naked 1 everyday. I think Nude 'Tude from theBalm is also an excellent yet more affordable neutral palette. They are not dupes or alternatives by any means. It just depends on what color range you prefer.

That's it for the comparison. I hope my review is helpful for you and I wish all of you have a wonderful day.

Update: I just found out that the price of Naked palette has gone up from $50 to $52, which is not a huge jump but still makes me feel kind of...upset...But I still love the palette very much and I will probably stop recommending it when it gets to $60. =P
